The Seed Department of the RHS, the Alpine Garden Society, the Cyclamen Society and Plant Heritage set up their stalls in the gallery of the Wisley Glasshouse this weekend, to offer visitors a chance to get some unusual seed and advice from the experts.
An impressive display of seed heads from the RHS
Some delightful specimens of the seed on offer from the Cyclamen Society
and a stylish seed box from the Alpine Garden Society
Our lovely team of PH volunteers worked with Gill and I over the two days, raising several hundred pounds, talking to potential Collection Holders, and Plant Guardians, and recruiting new members for the organisation.
We met lots of very enthusiastic youngsters who were invited to choose a pack of seeds free of charge – it would be lovely to think that this will inspire them with a interest in plants and propagation.
Thank you to everyone who donated seed for this event and worked over the weekend, and thanks to the RHS Seed Department for organising the event.
