The Laskett

‘They who plant a garden, plant happiness’

Plan of the gardens drawn by Jonathan Myles Lea

The Laskett, Sir Roy Strong’s garden in Herefordshire is the largest private formal garden to be created in England since 1945.  It is open to prebooked parties and Wendy Bentall managed to get a slot for members of the Surrey group to visit this iconic garden.  Inspired by the garden rooms of Hidcote, The Laskett was created over a period of 40 years by Sir Roy and his wife Dr Julia Trevelyan Oman as a tribute to their lives and their work in the arts.  The Laskett has vistas, viewpoints, theatrical gambits, monuments old and new; let the pictures speak for themselves.
