Twice a year, May and September, the Surrey PH group hold a Plant Fair in Dorking, courtesy of Denbies vineyard. Visitors are tempted by the offerings of the Specialist Nurseries in attendance as well as a bountiful table of plants grown by the local group, this year supplemented by crates of Rhubarb from the National Collection of Rheum held by RHS Wisley.
I couldn’t resist a couple of beauties from Iris of Sissinghurst
And an unusual mint from Edulis which really does smell of lavender and mint-potential for a wonderful ice cream?
As usual the helpers are there, dressed up to take whatever the weather throws at them and with smiles for everyone.
Surrey group are holding another Spring fair at Ripley Village Hall on Sunday May 27th from 10.00, so you have another chance to get a hold of some unusual plants for your garden this summer. September 16th is the date of their Autumn Denbies Fair.
