Successful Plant Heritage Plant Fair at RHS Hyde Hall
The Essex group of Plant Heritage in conjunction with the RHS National Gardening Week organised a grand Spring Plant Fair at RHS Hyde Hall on 21 and 22 April 2012. Julia Thornton of the Essex group arranged for 30 of the region’s specialist nurseries to attend the plant fair, alongside displays by local plant and garden societies.
As with many specialist plant fairs there was the happy anticipation of people searching out new and different plants, learning about their purchases and carefully taking the plant to their new homes. This plant fair had the added bonus of being held within the delightful gardens of RHS Hyde Hall, with its well stocked dry garden, two ponds, and wide ranging views over the local countryside. Although there was the threat of rain clouds on the first day these did not materialise, and generally the weather was fine with some sunshine – typical weather for this region. There were refreshments available along with the added convenience of a plant crèche.
If you missed this Plant Fair there is another opportunity to visit the next Essex group plant fair at RHS Hyde Hall on 22 and 23 September 2012.
